With everyone now having a camera at their disposal 24/7 in the form of their phone, digital picture taking has exploded...and so has the overwhelming number of pictures we all have. It is estimated that people will take well over a trillion pictures on their phones this year and that number is only increasing. Often times our best and most meaningful moments and pictures get lost in the detritus: screenshots, random pictures of clothes, food, drinks, accidental shots of our leg... Now add to the mix that we may have old phones and computers tucked off to the side that we are afraid to get rid of because of what they MAY contain. I often find clients that may have dozens of the same picture copied, backed up, re-backed up--all because they're worried they've missed something.
The good news is I can help you, whether your local to me in the Bay Area/Silicon Valley, or even if you're remote!
There can be so many sources of digital photos, it can be overwhelming just trying to locate them ALL!
We begin by doing just that and gathering them into a Working Hub. This starting point can result in an enormous number of files, but by doing this step properly, I ensure we aren't missing a thing.
My specialized method of finding and removing duplicates that will result from the gathering phase is the result of hours of testing available deduplication tools and coming up the perfect combination in just the right order to find even the toughest duplicates in a collection like cropped, lower-quality duplicates with different names or even different dates.
Depending on the software used over time, certain images can be stripped of the date they were actually taken. I get into the core of the photo's information to ensure the dates shown are correct, and ones without correct dates are identified for correction.
At this stage, the digital collection is ready to be organized chronologically, by year and month. If desired, I can also include important events within the chronological structure.
There are many different methods of delivery for a digital collection, ranging from returning the organized collection on a flash drive all the way to developing a private website for storage and sharing your family's archive securely. I work with my clients to be sure we find the right fit based on their needs.
I offer optional extra services: adding GPS locations, facial recognition for key people, searchable keywords and tags, and even AI-generated keywords for extra-fast searchability of your collection.
